Pros

Very few good reasons. Initially, it felt like I was running my own territory. But that didn't last. I made some good friends there.

Cons

The management has lost their way. They basically only sell hardware and don't understand why they can't get 35% or more margin on each deal. They do not know the competition and they have no understanding of the US market. If you do not speak Mandarin you are not privy to what they are thinking. They want to make money without spending money so they hire very marginal employees, especially in their San Jose office where the cost of living is very high. The mode of development is if we build it our customers will come. The engineers in Taiwan, never ask what is needed in the US so they build product that is not suited for this market.

Pros

When I was first contacted by AOPEN I was skeptical based on Glassdoor reviews. As the interview progressed I got more excited about the projects and the team. Management never denied the bad reviews, instead they invited me to look at the dates, and to be part of the change, which I gladly accepted Few months in, and I’m excited about the projects, the collaboration among the local and global teams, and the direction that the organization is going. It is inspiring to work with people that you can learn from, and are receptive for what you have to offer. So far, most of the people I have been working are innovative, smart, and ambitious, yet humble, collaborative and fun. Due to its smaller size, processes and development are faster and more efficient than larger organizations. Executive and management welcome new processes and projects that make sense. Another major plus, personally, is that AOPEN is a result-driven organization, which enables us to be strategic and focused on the right track. Another thing I appreciate about this company, and honestly one of the reasons I’m here, is its thoughtful, inspiring and reasonable leadership.

Cons

- Medical benefits are ok - No stock options - Work pace can get chaotic at times - Once a week work from home culture could increase efficiency and employee morale (not sure if its an option)
