Pros

My team is mostly fantastic. There's little micromanaging, great teamwork, and amazing people. The benefits at this job are quite decent, and I cannot complain too much about my pay...

Cons

... But the new CEO seems to be deadset on ruining this company and destroying its culture. Benefits we saw in the past were removed. Promotions, cancelled. Work ethics are being destroyed left and right. Are they trying to avoid layoffs? Maybe. Is this the best way to go about it? No.

Hi there - I'm glad to hear you enjoy your team, and the people here at AppFolio. Our people are one of my favorite things about this company. On the other hand, I can tell that you're upset with recent changes. While change can be hard, I would like to point out that we have not removed any of our Benefits, nor have we cancelled promotions. We made a business decision to pause the mid-year promotion cycle, but have no intent to "cancel" promotions now, or in the future. I encourage you to reach out to your Manager to discuss some of your frustrations, or talk with your HR Business Partner.

Pros

Frequent team outings and social events that help build relationships across the team. Generally a friendly, social environment!

Cons

The property management team is highly competitive when it comes to promotions, and I’ve seen BDRs remain in the same seat for years or eventually leave, as internal advancement opportunities can be limited. However, for top performers, there is promising upside, and you get to work with some of the best leaders in the organization. On the investment management team, leadership quality is more uneven, and there appears to be a lack of management experience, which has created gaps in coaching, accountability, and overall team development. As a result, performance outcomes have lagged, with the majority of BDRs and AEs struggling to consistently hit target. Team turnover has also been notably high, and leadership engagement only increased after a large portion of the team had already decided to leave, which by that point felt too late to rebuild morale or trust.
