If you get hired in a busy area, the monetary compensation from tips is AMAZING Many managers structure work schedules so everybody has a few profitable shifts and a few unprofitable shifts... In other words, I worked Friday night, (very profitable) but had Saturday off, meanwhile I also had to work Tuesday night (how often do you go out on a Tuesday?)
Cons
Your pay will get zeroed out thanks to government taxes... you make money based on tips The kitchen staff is... well, you'll find that out soon enough. It's a bunch of people who are surrounded by sweltering hot ovens and tables have a knack of always ordering meals with exceedingly different prep times, and since all meals must be delivered at the same time, these guys/gals are stressed out is what I am trying to say... and yes, a stressed out kitchen staff will always take it out on the servers.
