Pros

What sets Aptitive apart from other consulting firms is how much they care about YOU - both professionally AND personally! - and respect you. This is a firm that has an outstanding set of Benefits - Pay 100% of Health, Dental, vision premiums, Unlimited PTO, $100 helping hands monthly credit, cell phone and internet reimbursement, continuous learning through a variety of training platforms, and many more. Not only are these the best benefits, but it is also a great place to work with a variety of tasks in my everyday work life; from strategy to development to QA testing roles. All in all, Aptitive is a wondrous place to call home for my career; we all think about opening our own firm from time to time and think about what it would look like, well my ideal firm is Aptitive. They encompass all of the values and ethics that I strive for in my work life and truly allow for a fantastic work/life balance. Another awesome thing: this is a small firm with a flat organizational structure which allows me to learn and grow from an A+ group of co-workers. The Big 3 (co-founders of Aptitive) are all available anytime I need them and I can slack (online communication tool we use) them to initiate a conversation about needing a day off, help with a presentation or how best to manage the new account we have won.

Cons

As with any consulting firm, there are projects I get staffed on that are not the most exciting but that is simply part of the game; all in all there are far fewer "boring" projects and many more exciting ones. Being a small firm they are still growing and figuring things out; in time, the flat organizational structure will become more hierarchical but I do not foresee this being a roadblock to communication and openness with the Big 3 and co-workers across all levels of the organization.

Pros

• Very family friendly • Great salary and benefits • Flexible work environment • We use different technologies depending on client needs, which generally leads to using the latest and greatest • Not very much travel involved • Good professional development

Cons

Depending on your client assignments, you may find yourself working in the same industry for a long time, or you may find yourself jumping from industry to industry. This hasn't been a con for me, but I think some people either want more variety, or want to work in a specific industry. To their credit, Aptitive certainly takes your wants/wishes into account when making assignments, but it may not be exactly what you want.

Pros

Aptitive push me to learn more in my 3 month internship about consulting, Information Systems, and Computer Science field than I ever imagined I would from an internship. They exposed me to client work and opportunities that most internships are not structured to provide. To make sure that I was supported in my role, Aptitive assigned me a mentor that was extremely helpful and accessible for answering questions and navigating any situation. My mentor even took the time to give me a small intro course to everything I would need to know over the summer. Additionally, they encouraged me to participate in classes on new technologies, learn new coding languages, and even take various certification tests, in order to enhance skilsl I could carry with me past the program. The company was genuinely interested in helping me grow professionally, gain experience in the day-to-day life of consulting, and communicating with me about pros, cons, and areas in which they could improve to make my internship better.

Cons

If you are looking for an structured internship, this program is not exactly that. It is very organic and designed with flexibility to serve each specific intern. The management team and assigned mentor adapt the experience to help ensure each person is able to get out of the program what they would like. Everyone is highly communicative about expectations and the experience so it is easy to express one's wants or give suggestions on things to change . You truly are able to get out of it what you put into it...and more! This style was not a negative for me, but I think it is different than most internship experiences and should be considered.
