Cons
Arconic is a new company as a result of the Alcoa, Inc. separation but, from a cultural and even even day to day operational perspective (i.e.,corporate, compliance functions) there is nothing new about the company. It still feels like the 120+ year company who can seem to truly become the innovative/creative company it sets outs to be. Flexibility/Culture/Worklife: Company is currently undergoing "digital transformation" with the implementation of push of things like Skype for business with video and audio meetings capabilities. You would think this would also slightly change how we would operate create flexibility on how employees work or where from (i.e., work remotely more often). No, not all! Arconic Pittsburgh offices still have the mentality that you must be in the office (seen) to prove you are working/present Maternity leave, well its a 120+ year company, right? Do not expect much than what the law requires. Maternity leave purely reflects the federal requirement. They will keep your job but, you are not paid while off. You will have access to short term disability for a few weeks. Compensation/Promotion & Growth: Although there may be room to get promoted with in your department it is not likely to occur until you have been in your role for 3+ years. Within the corporate fiance departments ( i.e, FP&A, Internal Audit) the general sentiment is there is no ability to move up in organization. Annual pay increases do not keep up with the cost of living. Annual are generally between 1.5% -2%.
