Pros
Great benefits Makes a difference in patient care Training available with no prior experience Will reimburse if you pass your HT/HTL 25-26 days PTO Bi-yearly company parties
Cons
They are VERY focused on meeting par times for lab members, which can make for toxic, and arguably unsafe, practices in order to meet your quota. If you don’t meet your par times, you don’t truly truly get additional training on how to get faster, just made to practice continually until you figure it out? If you don’t get faster, you can get fired. You’re entitled to 15 minutes breaks and an hour lunch break, but get discouraged from using your 15 minute breaks. The company has been trying to physically expand to meet their growing caseload , but they’ve been telling employees that for a few years now. Instead, it’s put on lab members shoulders if cases aren’t done on time instead of recognizing that we need more staff and more machines. When I first started they were super chill about calling in - no explanation needed, just use your PTO when you need to. Now we are limited to how many people are “allowed” off per department, and can only “call in” a set amount per quarter. Only holidays you get off are Fed Ex holidays. Expected to come in during inclement weather. The single diversity training we’ve had since I’ve been there was given by a cis white woman, and multiple POC in the lab felt it to be incredibly lackluster.
