Pros
The work culture at Arup’s New York office can be very team-dependent. Some groups foster excellent collaboration, strong mentorship, and supportive management, making them a great place to grow. Experiences there can vary significantly, that is some staff have thrived under good leadership, while others have struggled with poor communication, lack of support, and an unhealthy management style. Overall, joining Arup in New York can be a hit or miss: if you land in the right team, the experience can be outstanding, but if not, the culture can feel unsupportive and even toxic. Candidates should approach with the understanding that the company has both amazing teams and challenging ones. Company benefits including great 401k match, medical/dental, bonus, and student loan assistance.
Cons
My experience with the tunnel ventilation team was that the management for the tunnel ventilation team has created a very toxic environment for the entire team, not to mention this team has one of the highest turnover rates and people will leave frequently because of the toxicity created by the people managing this team. They will try to do whatever means to attract you with an high offer but only to find out that it was a trap and not what you expected. After working there for the first week there, I found out that 7-8 of their people have left the firm recently. Beware! Stay away from the tunnel ventilation team in NYC.
