Pros
A diverse workplace, with good people and great culture. LGBTIAQ+ community members on staff. BIPOC on staff. This is a very 'low drama' workplace in the interpersonal sense. Divali and Halloween are currently the two most enthusiastically celebrated holidays in the office. We get to help people save for college, save for disability, or save for their retirement. It feels good to be helping people. While our investments do change based on the stock market, we are far from the hectic parts of the market. As much as the safety of the personal information we protect allows, we implement new technology. New mobile apps, new development stacks, new back ends. While not exactly on the front wave of new tech, we're also not falling behind either. There's always plenty of exciting tech to learn.
Cons
It tends to be difficult to move up in the company. People enjoy their jobs, and like who they work with. Which means people rarely change positions. The company is focused on employees with technological skills and experience and tends to let go anyone who can't demonstrate new technological understanding fast enough, even if they have decades of time at the company. The organization does not do a good job recognizing and leveraging the strengths of non neurotypical employees.
