Pros

Free lunch one a week

Cons

The senior colleagues run the work place, report to management who form opinions based on these recommendations. The senior staff are and unwelcoming. Managers openly discuss people. You constantly take calls all day, it’s a call centre and fit your legal job around it. Poor training, people switch roles so often. No BAME people promoted to Irwin Mitchell training contracts from ascent.

Pros

there are no pros on my end for this company.

Cons

I worked there for about 4–6 months, and as someone with a health condition (epilepsy), it became one of the worst environments I have experienced. During training, the person responsible for guiding us was very unfair. On many occasions, I asked for further explanation on things I did not fully understand, but my concerns were repeatedly ignored. Another new starter who joined at the same time as me experienced the same issue. It became clear that there was favoritism toward one particular person during training, which showed signs of unconscious bias towards people of a particular race. While that person received more attention and support, myself and the other new girl were often overlooked and ignored. This made the learning environment uncomfortable and discouraging. Being ignored so often made the office environment increasingly difficult for me, to the point where it began affecting my mental health. The person training us did not seem concerned about addressing the situation or ensuring we properly understood the work. It was only when the issue was escalated to someone above her that it was finally taken more seriously, and a few other people in the office showed concern and asked how I was doing. Overall, it was a very challenging experience that could have been avoided with fair treatment, equal support for new staff, and a more understanding environment.
