Pros

Because of the area that Atlas Biomed trades in, there were always quite exciting opportunities to work with partners. Sadly, most of them were misused or simply ignored because of whimsical decisions from micromanaging management. The pay was good but, in hindsight, I should have left months before because staying really damaged both my physical and mental wellbeing.

Cons

The company lacks any strategy. They bring in people at Managing Director level who aren't able to direct wine into a wine glass and who only got the job because of who they know within higher management. Shameful behaviour to start with. I saw so much unethical behaviour, lying and hiding information from customers and partners, data breaches, and other major issues that I wrote a letter to the Chief Legal Officer. At that same time I had to take medical leave because of the anxiety that working in these circumstances had triggered. After being signed off by the doctor with instructions to rest, I was still being contacted by the MD asking me to work on a presentation for a meeting that they had scheduled for a day during my medical leave. Absolutely ridiculous behaviour considering that I made a point I had been signed off because of mental health issues that had been triggered by the stress they were inflicting on employees. It took 2 weeks for my letter to legal to be acknowledged, which I had to chase them to do. Two weeks after that (a month in total), nothing had been done about it and I ended up leaving. There's absolutely 0 work-life balance. Meetings are arranged at short notice without asking whether you might be available for them. All senior management are Russian (in fact, 99% of the company staff are) and, without disrespect, the work culture doesn't translate to that of the United Kingdom. It's very much a situation of "I am the boss and you do as you're told", and this was made explicit so many times that it makes me cringe now thinking about it. Management were insistent on going back to an office location several times during lockdowns. The moment the restrictions seemed to ease a bit, they started talking about how much better it is to work in an office than to work from home. However, in my experience the performance had actually been better whilst home working than when I was based in the office. Obsessive micromanaging behaviour.
