Is this your company?

Wow, why did I put up with that? - Assistant Atlas Talent Agency Employee Review

Pros

Great location, cool projects, learned a lot

Cons

Now that I've been working other places, I realize just how awful my time at Atlas was. I was fresh out of college and thought that "paying my dues" in the industry meant putting up with stuff that was, in reality, incredibly inappropriate and unprofessional. I was lied to on multiple occasions and constantly thrown under the bus for my agent's mistakes. While the dogs at the office brought a lot of joy, they also took away from the focus of work a lot - barking at talent, jumping on furniture, etc. I was often sent to walk my agent's dog and then would have to work late to get the work finished from the day. Oh, and getting OT time was impossible. I don't think I got paid for OT once because the process was impossible and was clearly frowned upon. A lack of real HR meant there was nobody to go to when things were bad. Agents would make fun of talent after they left or call them the "R" word when they didn't understand the poor instructions given to them by the agents. If you're looking at working here, please know this treatment is abnormal. Don't let TV shows fool you into thinking this is what agency life is like.

Pros

I have nothing but the best things to say about my time at Atlas Talent Agency. The supervisors truly empower their employees to take on increased responsibilities, pursue their specific interests, and to take on leadership roles in the company. Your career at Atlas Talent is truly what you make of it. If you work hard and come in with a positive attitude you will be truly rewarded — much more so than at comparable agencies. I worked for the two cofounders of the company, and, while one might anticipate that role to come with increased stressors, I could not have had a better experience working for them and I can not sing their praises loudly enough. The mentorship and opportunity that they offered me was incredible, and I couldn’t be more thankful for all that they taught me. Aside from the supervisors, the associates and agents are incredible kind and intelligent. The office culture is very tight knit and family-like. I can truly say that every day spent with the Atlas Talent crew was fun. If you are looking to become an agent there is no better place, and if you are not sure what you are looking to become, then there is no better learning ground.

Cons

I don't have anything to say in terms of cons.
