Pros

Invited to interview quickly and offered salary above market rate

Cons

I interviewed with Aula in October 2020. Didn't get past the first stage. Their quoted reason for not progressing me was "how you communicated during our call". I have a stutter/speech impediment when stressed, for example in interview situations. This was a 20 minute initial screening call with a non-technical member of their team. I feel it was unfair to judge me so quickly based on a single call and on a disability that expresses itself most strongly in me in stressful situations such as this. I'm glad to have avoided working with an organisation which would discriminate in this way.

Hi There, We are so, so sorry to have made you feel this way. There are no excuses. We care a lot about building a diverse and inclusive company, and we’ve put a lot of thought into how to build a recruitment process that sets candidates from all backgrounds up for success. Clearly, we need to reflect on how we can make sure candidates always feel at ease, so we get to see their best sides. Your feedback is helpful. We sincerely think stuttering is in no way a hindrance to being an excellent contributor at Aula. We tried - and failed - to communicate something different, and we apologise for not being more precise.

Pros

The people and the processes. Focus on product market fit. Great CPO who understands the balance of product vision and strategy.

Cons

Was still in a start-up vibe so could be messy. Strategy and vision changing last minute.

Pros

Onboarding was conducted within the Aula LMS, which helped with acclimating and understanding system. Very supportive leaders and fellow designers. Definitely felt integrated in the culture quickly. Interesting and meaningful work.

Cons

Some aspects of the onboarding were unclear. First assignment was a course that had extremely difficult, technical content, as confirmed by several leaders whom I consulted for assistance; did not get to finish design before assignment was cut short by deadline acceleration.
