      Good company to work - Senior Software Engineer Avedro Employee Review

      Pros

      This company is my top one ranking among many companies I worked during career. Startup, energetic, yet friendly. Really high tech company, with a small engineering team excel in areas of Mechanical, Optics, Electronics and Software. It also has a wonderful science team and ophthalmologists. Company offers a really very attractive package including competitive salary, health case benefits that employees pay small fraction of the cost. It also gives employee plenty of vacation time. People are friendly and very helpful. Half day on Friday during the summer is really a treat.

      Pros

      Lots of company change in 2016 has made for a very positive work environment - the old reviews here are very outdated. We now have US FDA approval, a new CEO who is a great leader with experience managing several other successful startups, flexible work environment (1/2 day Fridays in Summer), great benefits (100% dental, etc), colleagues with strong knowledge of ophthalmic space. With being a small company, it's easier to move departments and roles if there is an interest - great development opportunities.

      Cons

      I was hesitant to work here because of the negative reviews and the previous hostile work environment. Apparently the stories are true but that CEO is thankfully long gone! I made sure to address this in the interview process because I was leaving a Fortune 500 company to take a chance on Avedro. Once I met the people, I knew that it was a good fit. The people are great and the company is going at a fast pace. It's an exciting time to work here! It's just disappointing that the previous work environment is giving the company a bad rep.
