Pros

Easy enough job to grasp, opportunities to make commission.

Cons

A disgrace of a company. Long hours by yourself. Only get 30mins per shift and because you are working by yourself you have to close the desk to take it, sometimes it’s too busy you can’t close. So no break. Then, Barely 8 hours between shifts sometimes which is illegal and the attitude is “well everyone does it”. Shocking pay for the hours you cover and your ‘benefits’ is an extra €10 a day when you work a Sunday. Very kind of them. No maternity pay, no sick pay, no benefits at all. Nothing. The company constantly over book, so you’re dealing with customers who’ve booked a car and no cars are available, meaning you’re just dealing with unhappy customers all the time and you can’t do anything about it. A greedy company who do not give a single care to their staff.

Pros

I've been with Avis Budget Group for 16 years, and one of the biggest reasons I've stayed is the opportunity for growth. I've had multiple promotions throughout my career because the company has consistently been willing to invest in people who work hard, take ownership, and deliver results. No two days are ever the same, which keeps the work interesting. I've had the chance to lead teams in multiple markets, work alongside talented leaders, and continually develop new skills. The business is fast-paced, but it gives you the opportunity to make decisions, solve problems, and have a real impact on both customers and employees. I've worked with leaders who genuinely care about developing talent, and many of the people I've worked with have built long-term careers here. If you're willing to put in the effort, there are significant opportunities to grow professionally and take on increasing levels of responsibility. The company also continues to invest in new technology and operational improvements, making it easier to serve customers and support employees.

Cons

Like any customer-facing operation, there are busy periods that can be demanding, especially during holidays and peak travel seasons. Success requires flexibility, strong communication, and the ability to adapt quickly to changing business needs. The pace isn't for everyone, but for people who enjoy problem-solving, leadership, and working in an environment where every day is different, those challenges become opportunities to learn and grow.
