Pros

The pros are so many that I am having a hard time coming up with a limited number of bullet points. - Exciting challenges and a cool problem to solve. - Brilliant colleagues being guided by a very capable leadership team. - Amazing company culture reinforced by a hiring process that gives the employees the opportunity to interact with potential newcomers. You are joining a team, not just sharing a space. - Total freedom to do whatever you want as long as you get your job done well. - Lots of laughs (and artisan beer). - Good career opportunities. We are doubling size this year. - The feeling that the whole team strives towards the same objective: building a great company.

Cons

Two things: - While the hands-off management is certainly an advantage, the downside of it is that, for the most part, you will have to come up with your own training resources. Fortunately, everyone is very supportive, but it will be up to you to use your imagination to figure out what should be covered and how to cover it. It's a bit like drawing a map of a city that you are just getting to know. - The BYOD policy [50/50 assisted purchasing scheme] is not built for everyone. If, God forbid, you are not an Apple groupie, or don't feel like spending $1000 on extra equipment, you are on your own.

Pros

Not only are the people at Awesense smart and competent, they are also friendly. There were board game nights, poker nights, karaoke nights, after work beers (and other beverages for those who don't drink!), and in-office challenges. It really created a warm team environment, and I looked forward to work each day. The CEO chats with all employees and hosts weekly townhalls. No micromanagement. The workplace is very casual. HR is committed to maintaining a positive, relaxed culture. They handled workplace issues that came up with immediacy and importance. The product is something you can get behind - clean tech, supported by both software and hardware.

Cons

There was a bit of financial turmoil resulting in layoffs. With turnover, there are a few gaps in management and key roles. However, I'm sure these will be filled as soon as they can.
