Pros

You learn a lot about yourself, push your limits, test your tolerance.

Cons

In this 18+2 months (2 months notice period), you will slowly lose your life. You will lose sight of who you were. You will lose your friends. You will lose your family. All that you will be able to see in your mind is your co-workers who constantly and repeatedly backstabs you. In fact, such backstabbing behaviour is encouraged and actively practised by the management team. The director sees everyone as his robots and will frequently comment on how he can just buy another one of you. Favouritism is actively inculcated. Management uses emotional blackmail, threats and verbal insults to keep the employees working hard. Promotion is not based on merit nor on a yearly basis even though they claim so. False promises are frequently made. Pay is very much below market rate as you have to deduct the laptop bond at the end of your time here. Other comparable mid-tiers do not have the laptop bond and pays much better.

Pros

Not everyone will be your person, but the ones who are, you'll keep them for life. The intensity of the work forges real bonds. When you go through the grind together, those friendships/mentorship stick long after you've moved on. Same goes for upper management.

Cons

During busy season (approx Jan to April), 40 hours is a floor, not a ceiling, and that's pretty standard for firms of this type. On the consulting side, you're constantly juggling multiple clients with overlapping deadlines, so if time management isn't your strong suit, you'll feel it fast. Compensation is solidly middle-of-the-road; don't expect it to wow you.
