Pros

I cannot think of any reason to work here.

Cons

Although I’ve never publicly shared any of my previous workplace experiences, the pettiness of this company and its employees has compelled me to make an exception. For the first time ever, I'm taking it upon myself to voice my dissatisfaction and warn others of this toxic environment. I recently left this company without having another job lined up. Despite the financial risk involved, I decided it was worth avoiding further exposure to the toxicity of this company. To give you an idea of just how petty these people are, I’ll share one short story before listing off the top 3 issues I have with this organization. During my job interview, I informed my manager that I was going to try to land some additional freelance projects during off hours to help to bridge the gap of a lower starting salary. She responded positively, stating that they support a healthy work/life balance and that what I do outside of working hours is my business. About a month after joining, I created a landing page on Wix, which included a section of the recent projects I had worked on, including my current project, Bill.com. My hope was that this would help give me some credibility with potential clients. Fast forward, I’m on a team meeting and I receive an alert on my Wix app that someone is live on my site. The alert also displays the viewers location, which oddly, is where my manager lives. Not long after, I receive a call from corporate, stating that someone had reported my website to them and that I "needed to remove Bill.com from my recent projects section." Which didn't make sense to me, considering their instance WAS a project I had worked on and that displaying this was doing NO harm to them whatsoever. My site literally gets like 5 views a month. Regardless, how was this any different than having them listed on my resume? Do you know how petty you must be in order to take time out of your work day to report that or contact me regarding something that doesn’t affect you or your organization negatively, whatsoever? Which brings me to the first con of being a Bill.com employee, toxic culture. • Toxic environments will kill your motivation and productivity. The work environment and culture that was described to me during my hiring process was NOTHING like what I experienced here. This likely explains why they offered me stock options if I stayed for 2 years. You can keep your stock options; my mental health is much more important to me. I agree with the review that stated the honeymoon phase of the job is great then you get to see things for how they truly are. And I’ve never been around so many people who were so fake to me. Friendly, kind and super supportive to your face, but then discuss you in the opposite manner when you’re not around. And because everyone gossips, it always gets back to you, one way or another. And the last point I’d like to make is the all the egos. Not all, but many of the people I interacted with were often very arrogant, sarcastic and condescending. • Pay is horrible. As referenced above, the pay here is far below the industry standard. But to be fair, I knew the pay was lower when I joined. I just didn’t realize how much lower they were paying compared to other organizations. I accepted the lower starting pay based on the future promises that were made during my hiring process. To put it in perspective, the company I joined after leaving is paying me 25% more than I was being paid here. Same position. Same job duties. • No structure or organization The team I was on was reactive and not proactive. There is no structure or standardized process for anything. Many of the tasks I was performing daily were not part of my job duties and were far outside of my skillset. And if you ask questions or do not know how to complete something (because it isn’t part of your job), you will feel as if you are a nuisance. Add this to the fact that if you are working remotely, you’re basically on an island, and you have the perfect recipe for an unhealthy working environment. There is a lot of internal struggles as well. Stakeholders do not agree on processes which creates much conflict and tension within the organization. A lot of back and forth. No clear leadership.

Pros

Good healthcare and time off benefits

Cons

Executives are directionless and have no idea what they're doing. The BILL product is terrible and it's because they've just allowed totally inept and non-technical people coast for years. Every product call nobody can actually explain the product, how it functionally works, or the customer experience. They all just thought up an idea (that usually sucks) and had AI make some junk deck that they present and then lie about how it will produce more revenue. The non-technical people at this company drag it down and they don't have smart enough VPs to weed them out.
