Pros
Working at Back to the Roots was one of the best decisions I made professionally. My tenure at BTTR was akin to getting real-world, applicable MBA training. I learned more and advanced my skill set with this company than any other positions I have ever had in the past. The company is mission-focused, it's co-founders are bright, passionate and genuine and the entire team is close both in and out of the office. Not only have I made lifelong friends and memories, but working for BTTR proved to be the strong foundation I needed to catapult my career. Since leaving BTTR, I have taken an executive/leadership/director role at a well established and successful company. I draw on my experiences and learnings at BTTR on a daily basis. I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to have worked at BTTR and forever will consider myself part of the family.
Cons
Back to the Roots was (and still remains) a start-up company in heavy growth mode. The company is constantly pushing the boundaries of "normal" business and industry practices. As a result, employees are often asked to work long hours and are challenged to push themselves to become better. While no one is perfect of expected to be, it is expected to learn from mistakes that are made and not repeat them. If one lacks personal motivation, BTTR can be a difficult place to be. However if you are driven to push yourself and have the ability to create a need for yourself through quality and committed work, the sky is the limit. There may be other opportunities to make more money, but I'd argue fewer opportunities to develop professionally than BTTR.
