Pros
I made a lot of friends with other staff. The discount on clothes was good but not great. Can play your own music on-shift.
Cons
Unpaid lunch break, horrible working conditions (freezing in Winter, boiling in Summer, no sunlight as it's in a basement, dusty and dirty), paid minimum wage and in a meeting to discuss a living wage told it wouldn't be possible despite being an outwardly ethical company, often left alone to fulfill repetitive and monotonous tasks, underqualified manager, no incentives for good work, terribly managed, horrible gossip culture, mice in all areas of the company, no training for heavy lifting, there is so much wasted potential as shop staff are often University graduates from creative backgrounds but this was never utilised, an obvious divide between shop staff and head office, claims to promote progression within the company yet would rather hire an outsider than train you, managers would dismiss mental health concerns of staff, no HR, no budgets, a lot of stress for little gain.
