Pros

Working at Bixly is incredibly relaxed. It's very close-knit and the working relationship with your co-workers and managers will become synonymous to what many have with their own friends and family. Very comfortable, non-competitive, and challenging if you want it be. Once you have proved yourself, you are allowed the opportunity to experiment greatly with new technologies as a developer. The workforce is incredibly talented, and is a pleasure to work with 95% of the time. The culture is enriched with a playful theme that trickles down from the owner, and often times is well received after a long week of stressful work.

Cons

There is no clear path for how to do your job. While there is a certain degree of autonomy to be expected of a good employee, new people frequently flounder and have a rough time getting up to speed in the company. There are fundamental differences in management style project-to-project and manager-to-manager. A blessing and curse for those of us in the trenches. Everyone has there own idea of was Agile development actually is, and most are incorrect. There is no formal training on any level. You are expected to teach yourself every skill as needed, on demand, and with little to no guidance aside from Google and Stack Overflow. Luckily there are very smart people within the organization and you are free to consult with them. If you don't find the motivation, you will fail. The pay is low compared to the rest of the industry. The atmosphere of the business can feel immature and petty at times, and this can lead to people not caring about the quality of their work. The business feel stagnant, and so does working here. There is zero advancement opportunity and the difference between a junior and senior is about seven dollars per hour.

Pros

- Fellow engineers were great to work with. All the engineers were willing to help and give advice even if they weren't on the same project as you.

Cons

- Lack of work - They're a software development shop that has had a hard time finding clients. The sales team is management trying to convince clients to work with them. Promises of "big clients" would come in but the next week, nothing. They fail to secure a client and don't mention anything about it. - No real employee reinvestment - Learn on your own time off hours or learn on the job. - Wages - Salary isn't competitive because of the business model / where the company is located. - No clear company goals - During my time they tried to break into multiple different industries but failed every time. Tried to force engineers to learn No-Code Low-Code tools to entice clients for rapid prototyping / faster development. But as that wasn't gaining any traction, that soon stopped. - Lack of work culture - Not much was done to get people together. There might be a company lunch every once in a while but not much was done to get in house and remote engineers together. In house engineers were siloed off in their own offices working on their project. - Management - Probably the worst part of Bixly. Have an issue with a client or how things are ran in the company? Deal with it because they won't fix it. The ship is fine for them.
