Pros

As a technology solutions and product provider, Black Box has gone through transformation to be more competitive, relevant and innovative. Yes, they had a tough transition as they wrestled with integrating 120+ companies (via their heavy acquisition era) resulting in different processes, systems and cultures. I believe that the toughest decisions are behind Black Box and the best that could happen was the acquisition by AGC. AGC wanted to grow their Americas and EMEA presence and Black Box allows them to do that - it is a blending of the best from both technology solutions providers. AGC has a long term view of making Black Box strong and bringing AGC Black Box together. Now there is an investment in processes, technology and... PEOPLE! People are the top of mind for our new CEO Sanjeev Verma. People had been woefully under invested in for many years at Black Box but with the change in leadership this is all changing. There is now investment in People Development (training, certifications, leadership development, etc) and in building new Recruiting programs like Military recruitment, College/University Internships and Tech School Internships/Co-Ops. Benefits are getting better with a reinstatement of 401k match. And, the company is now showing profit again! The best thing that could happen to Black Box was going private - now they can truly become one company without the demands of the stock market which competed in what was best to make Black Box stronger for the future. Lastly, I have been a consultant in the past to Black Box once in Recruiting and another as a Transformation Consultant and now 5 years later when I was contacted by a recruiter to come to Black Box, I said I was very interested. I didn't hesitate. Why? Because this is the best time to come to Black Box - it is on the right back and I'm excited about the opportunity to build & create Talent Acquisition programs to bring in great talent. I'm also thrilled to be part of a great organization with incredible market growth potential, a strong Senior Leadership Team who has a long term view of making this company successful and very customer-centric employees who are really a pleasure to work with.

Cons

If someone is looking for a maintenance mode organization, this company isn't the right fit. If you are looking to participate in creating a bright future through your skills in impacting improvements in our processes, systems &/or people then this is the right place for you. This is an organization for people who want to contribute, work with great team players and make a difference.

Pros

The data center work itself was interesting and there were opportunities to gain exposure to large-scale projects. Some coworkers on-site were supportive and hardworking.

Cons

Leadership and communication were extremely inconsistent. There was little structure, minimal training, and employees often felt like they were expected to figure things out on their own without proper support or mentorship. Workloads and expectations changed constantly depending on who you spoke to. The company talks about growth, but many employees are underutilized or not actually developed professionally. It often felt more reactive than organized, especially from upper management. Decisions were made with very little transparency, and morale suffered because of it. There was also a noticeable disconnect between corporate leadership and the realities of what was happening on-site. Many employees felt expendable rather than valued.
