Pros
First, as a veteran, I was very excited for the opportunity to work for a place that boasted two of my favorite hobbies - rifles and coffee. I've worked as a developer at Starbucks Headquarters prior, so I was thrilled to contribute to a company that not only boasted coffee, but seemingly promoted American values, freedom etc. Free bags of coffee and some merch were provided.
Cons
Alas, the dream ended and turned into some weird POG-larper-fueled micro-managed, cowboy coding, nightmare. Code refactored and merged at night by dev-management led to broken builds in the morning. Daily threats from the director level for meeting attendance (ie. "1 minute late and you're fired"). Attempts by management to use Agile/Scrum led to weird velocity expectations and ultimately back to waterfall style planning (ie. nothing got completed). Low pay (but hey, we're working for a cause, eh?). Benefits aren't spectacular. Not allowed to purchase stock. Promises upon hiring not fulfilled. Working nights & weekends. Vacations not allowed.
