Pros

Clients were amazing and coworkers made the days tolerable

Cons

Working at Black Wednesday was a deeply frustrating and discouraging experience. The company’s biggest issue lies with the CEO whose behavior was consistently unprofessional and lacked basic boundaries. Feedback was vague, dismissive, and delivered in a way that was NOT constructive. Asking for clarification was frequently met with ridicule for not already knowing how to solve brand new or unclear problems and was always told to “take better notes” when there was no clear assignment outlines. This toxic dynamic resulted in having to redo the same work multiple times, only to be questioned about my competence, despite receiving glowing feedback from clients and producing strong results. There was a big disconnect between how clients valued my work and how it was treated internally. There is also no clear path for professional development. When you ask how to grow or improve, the answer is essentially “figure it out yourself,” and you’re made to feel inadequate for even asking. Compensation is well below industry standards, and there are no real benefits, no real PTO (most employees start with 5 days), and no meaningful perks for employees.

Pros

After working for Black Wednesday for 3+ years, I can confidently say this is one of the most innovative and forward thinking agencies around. Corri is an incredible business woman who is not afraid to make cool, bold choices, collaborate closely on projects, and challenge mediocrity. Anyone who works here will grow professionally.

Cons

You must be nimble and willing to accept feedback. For those who find this difficult, there will be friction.

Pros

~Job Growth: Because it's a small team, you have the opportunity to move up. Interested in becoming a manager? The biz owner will set goals to help you get there and prove your success. Interested in another department/team? You may be pulled into projects so that you can learn more about that team, the roles and responsibilities. ~ Creative Freedom (Within Reason): If you dream up an idea for a client, for BW, or even for your own personal endeavor, the business and owner will support you in some way, shape or form. Sometimes it's extra time, money, or brainstorming. Black Wednesday is all about doing innovative and cool things, so the company loves nurturing all new endeavors. No idea is too big or too small to tinker with (as long as the resources and time are available). ~ Personal Care: Life can be tumultuous, and I experienced first-hand how the business owner cares about your wellbeing as an individual. If you are having a rough day or life throws a curveball at you, she is fantastic about taking off the "boss" hat and speaking human to human, as a friend. It is the level of compassion you don't often get in larger organizations. ~ Fun Perks: Fully stocked snacks and drinks. Fun team outings. Coffee on the boss quite frequently. Occasional pups in the office for snuggles. Networking events paid for by company.

Cons

Marketing is fast-paced and doesn't fit the traditional "9-to-5" clock in and clock out format. Be ready to put in extra time outside of traditional work hours (ex: sometimes a client will have a weekend event, but they are often fun happenings like restaurant openings or festivals!)
