Pros

- Met some amazing co workers

Cons

I worked at BlueMeta for a considerable period, and I must say that it was an overwhelmingly negative experience. The toxic work environment at this company is nurtured and maintained by the CEO and CMO, who seem oblivious to the detrimental effects it has on the employees. Here are the key issues I encountered: 1. CEO's Temper: The CEO has a volatile temper, which creates an atmosphere of constant tension and anxiety. This behavior is highly unprofessional and demoralizing for the entire team. 2. Fear Tactics: Instead of fostering a positive work culture, the leadership at BlueMeta relies on fear tactics to motivate the staff. Employees are constantly on edge, fearing retribution for minor mistakes or perceived shortcomings. 3. High Turnover Rates: The company boasts an alarming customer turnover rate of over 80% and an employee turnover rate of more than 70%. These numbers speak volumes about the dissatisfaction and lack of trust within the organization. 4. Outsourcing and Lack of Quality Control: BlueMeta outsources all digital optimization tasks to the Philippines without reviewing the work, resulting in poor quality deliverables. Consequently, clients become disillusioned and leave. 5. Deceptive Sales Tactics: The company misleadingly presents itself as experts in various tasks to secure client contracts. However, the truth is that the team often has to resort to watching YouTube videos to educate themselves on these tasks, highlighting a severe lack of expertise. 6. Poor Treatment of Top Performers: Surprisingly, the top performers in the company are often treated the worst. Their hard work and dedication go unrecognized, leading to demotivation and a sense of undervaluation. 7. Lack of Focus on Quality: The company demonstrates a complete disregard for quality. Instead of prioritizing excellence, BlueMeta appears solely concerned with its bottom line. This approach compromises the integrity of the work delivered to clients. 8. Micromanagement: Every task is excessively micromanaged, stifling creativity and innovation among the employees. This level of control hampers productivity and makes it difficult to work efficiently. 9. Disparaging Remarks in Meetings: In meetings, I have witnessed company leaders speaking poorly about fellow team members. Such unprofessional behavior fosters a toxic and divisive work environment.

Pros

I was fortunate to be part of the Blue Meta team for 2 years before moving on to a new opportunity and want to share my perspective. Blue Meta swings way above its weight class as an agency. Their processes and procedures are very clear, and operationally, they are actually more sophisticated than many agencies 3-4x their size. When it comes to your performance as an employee, you always know where you're at because everything is measured effectively. Management works tirelessly to help you learn, grow and improve. The sheer amount of personal growth and opportunity at this company is insane. I've actually never seen it anywhere else. Their objective is to grow every employee individually and hire internally for leadership/mid-level management so that they can create more opportunities for everyone on the org chart. I personally was receiving mentorship from both of the founders for most of my time at this company. I learned lessons that I took with me into my own business as well as into a new full-time role (which is a 200~ employee agency), and I have been able to stand out in the crowd as a more-than-capable hire for them. They gave so much of their own time out of their days to invest in me just because I showed the commitment and asked for the support to grow. I was given higher value accounts, more opportunities to grow, and support at each turn. There was never a time when I felt alone in my journey at this company. Blue Meta is also very sophisticated in terms of the service delivery. All the techniques that are being deployed to serve clients are cutting-edge, and the CMO spends a lot of his personal time outside of business hours developing the most cutting-edge ways to serve their clients (advertising techniques, tools, data partners, etc). I even had the privilege of helping develop some of the service offerings, and worked closely with the CMO on those things which was super cool. The culture is friendly and very supportive. The vacation and time off is also more flexible than I've seen at other role that I've had .. if you need a day off on the same week, 9 times out of 10 they will accommodate because they have the systems and infrastructure in place to have the support on the days that you're gone. They are super flexible as long as you're able to plan ahead and set the team up for success while you're gone which is true at any company -- they just have better support here from what I've seen.

Cons

Honestly, when I reflect on it there's not much to critique... Maybe more in-person events and team-building things. We did get to go to some cool places with the company retreats though.

Pros

1. Good people to work with! 2. Lots of flexibility 3. Honest team members who really want to do good work. 4. Good place to learn. I certainly grew from my year there.

Cons

None really, running a full service agency nowadays is hard, when there are specialists at every corner to compete with.
