An amazing effort to reinvent the technology that had been stale for 30 years. So many good ideas not yet fully realized by a scrappy technology team that REALLY TRIED but was put on life support after the acquisition. Nimona was just getting to be good. Technical Directors in PT were the best in the industry — lucky for all the other studios that grabbed them within 60seconds of Blue Sky closing.
Cons
Years of destructive “new management” was too much for the studio. decision by Disney made sense as there was too much toxicity left behind by the first set of “new management”. Second set of “new management” didn’t make enough of the hard changes to remove toxic forces. Movies that used to cost $100m became budget busters. Artists split between “change everything!” to “don’t change anything!” put technology team in hard situation — just read the other reviews which say “outdated technology” AND “too much change in technology”. Sums up the last 3 years of Blue Sky.
