Pros

*Bluetree has a strong culture of rate transparency and experience-based pay--as a consultant they will let you know what rate they are billing you at and what percent you take away. *Bluetree's Denver WeWork office is an amazing facility with free premium coffee

Cons

*Although Bluetree has an office in Denver, the experience of employees in sales, recruiting, HR, and operations in Denver is one of being managed remotely *Bluetree management philosophy places all onus for training and other difficulties experienced by lower level staff onto those staff *Upper level management is frequently ineffective; they have repeatedly dismissed evidence of patterns of psychologically abusive behavior, management failures, and favoritism on the part of mid-level managers *In the last year or two, there have been very few opportunities for career advancement for employees at any level of the company; Bluetree managers have repeatedly said that they would rather replace a low level employee than give them a career ladder and/or significant raise

I appreciate your honest feedback about what it’s like to work here both as an employee and a consultant. It sounds like you feel not everyone gets the same experience, depending on their role and location. It’s tough when you’re a geographically spread-out company and we know we have work to do. If you’re open to talking more about how you think we can improve this, feel free to reach out to me. We could sit down and share some of that awesome coffee WeWork has! What’s super concerning to me is what you mention of employees dismissing psychologically abusive behavior. That’s not okay, and HR should be notified. I’d urge you to reach out to them to share your experience. My hope is that with a few conversations we can help make some of these things right.

Pros

People focus on connecting the day-to-day to what overall the company is trying to achieve (improving healthcare and helping our customers). People are encouraged (and expected) to take ownership of their work - the bar is high and that keeps the best people motivated. Meanwhile, there's not much internal comparison between employees so everyone can help each other grow and improve. Leaders care about doing the right thing and finding the win-win-win (one of the done.better. values) between customers, employees, and the company overall. People are encouraged to be direct, which means "We tell the truth to our customers and each other. We hold each other accountable to Bluetree's expectations and our commitments. We have the courage and vulnerability to have tough conversations, including listening to each other and admitting our own mistakes." Directness as a value cuts out a lot of swirl and shows respect that people can handle issues likes adults.

Cons

Lots of growth, which means sometimes change happens before all the change management can happen. That can be scary or unsettling for some. High performing employees want to grow and progress in their careers. Despite pretty major growth, sometimes it seems like the company can't grow fast enough to create as many opportunities as this caliber of people would want. So that's an area to improve (figure out how to help people grow in a variety of ways even if formal roles and vertical progression isn't always an option). Benefits have some room to grow. The medical plan is a lesser known one that is sometimes hard for nationwide employees to navigate.

Hey there! Thanks for taking the time to leave us feedback. It’s evident in what you wrote that you understand and are in tune with our values – that’s awesome to see, and thanks for keeping them in mind. You, like many others, call out the change and growth we’re experiencing. It definitely can be scary and unsettling, so I hope if you ever feel that way you reach out to me or your manager to further talk through it. Glad to have you on the team and thanks again for your positive words! -Liz Fehlman
