Pros
You'll learn a lot about different things. Chance to move up with the company if you work hard. You'll work with some great people, and some not so much but that's life. Pay can be ok, depending on position.
Cons
This isn't meant to be negative but it's going to be truthful. I have to listen to our commercial play throughout the store everyday about how Bomgaars gives everyone what they need when they need it. As a frontline employee I do not have what I need to do my job. I have brought this up with store manager and district manager and my concerns are tossed to the wayside. One major example is we need to scan items to figure out their price, their Sku number and to print price tags. We have never had enough scanners at our store to accomplish this so instead of me being efficient at my job I am constantly searching for other people that might have a scanner that I can use and in the process I'm wasting both of our time. This usually involves walking across the store to get this done and it wastes a tremendous amount of time and productivity. Our computer systems are literally from the '90s. It's a DOS based system and it is so cumbersome to get any information other than really basic stuff. It's nearly impossible to look up customer orders and status etc. As someone who takes pride in being efficient I almost feel like that is antithetical to the job. Things are done very inefficiently and that's the way it is that's the status quo.
