1. VERY political environment with nepotism and people vying to move up through management; It is all about exposure - managers are playing the political game to get attention and move up the ladder and will not hide their selfish motives from their employees. If you are a German national, you have a HUGE advantage - if not, you will have to work twice as hard for opportunities. Many people in management are given their positions based on shallow alliances and family members who are executives at Bosch, not based on their knowledge or skills. And it is normal for other people to take credit for your work.
2. You won't learn many skills here which you can translate to other companies- Everything is process driven according to BOSCH's procedures and BOSCH's processes from Germany. 90% of my job is working through Bosch's disconnected/outdated IT systems, documenting my work, getting approvals from many different people and teams, and trying to please the customer while being slowed down by Bosch's processes. As a result, there is a person and process for everything and it is not the most effective way to conduct B2B sales. Many people stay at Bosch their entire career but only have knowledge based on Bosch's unique way of doing business.
3. Many people don't seem happy here - From the first week I started, most people seemed stressed and very complacent. Some people here are very bitter for having been overlooked for promotions or blocked by management from changing roles. Lots of people stay because of the benefits and because they want to be able to move to Japan or Germany after a few years - in that case, good for them!
4. If you are not an engineer, you are 2nd rate. A prime example is with the referral bonus at Bosch. Referring an engineer gets you $5000, anyone else is just $1500.
5. Bosch is a privately owned company, so they pay less in comparison to its competitors in the industry. But I guess this can also be considered as a pro, as Bosch is not very likely to just lay you off during an economic downturn...
