Pros
If you are fortunate enough to have a remote position - you will be satisfied. Remote employees do not have to “help out” or “be a team player” when Departments like Production or Quality Control are understaffed. On Site employees will - no matter what position you were hired for, your role and job description will only last until the next leaves. Management will expect this position to be absorbed by 1-2 people until they too quit.
Cons
When Management gets desperate to fill a position - the decision has been made to demote someone by eliminating their current Role, but not before they train the person replacing them (which defeats the purpose of eliminating a position when it’s just a lateral push onto someone else’s plate). Do not let Management talk you into doing this - They will use buzzwords like “unprecedented times”, “wear many hats” or “we picked you because you are the most qualified” but the reality is that Management can’t keep anyone long term for these low level positions so they will find a stop gap employee as a temporary solution.
