Pros
They have a decently stocked break room and provide lunch once a week (though not enough for everyone and typically to cater towards office personnel) to distract from the toxic environment they've created and make it appealing for prospective/new employees. The lab operations team is very nice and welcoming but there is a huge disconnect between office personnel and lab ops. There are some great mentors there amongst the lab team but that is due to the people themselves, not the work or any involvement from management. Co-workers are relatable and on the same career paths but there is no support from superiors or the company itself in terms of professional development and growth.
Cons
EVERYTHING ELSE IS A CON! Management is terrible, they feed you lies and tell you everything is ok when its not. They are very very suspicious in their activity and the way they handle matters, especially in regards to compliance. Upper management NEVER takes responsibility for anything and just fires anyone if there's any issues, even if its over a mistake made during training or something where they were also at fault- their response is to protect themselves and get rid of everyone with a voice. They always have to point a finger at someone and have a person to blame rather than owning up to their own policies or actions. The "culture VP" tries to make it seem like your opinion matters yet uses that against you later on. She takes notes during private meetings that she claims are safe spaces and then continuously dismisses any concerns you bring up. They only value your opinion if its positive, if its not and you have any negative feedback then prepare to get gaslit and invalidated. They even had to involve a 3rd party to address the culture issues within the company because of how bad it is but even that has not done anything because the issues are WITH MANAGEMENT but they refuse to own up to that and will continue to blame former employees for their problems. They've trained their managers and supervisors (for lab ops specifically) to lie to their staff and create a sense of false hope and security. They sneak around and tell you your jobs are safe regardless of how the business is doing without being honest about what is going on. They handle situations VERY poorly such as firing individuals in front of large groups, revealing intimate details about situations to those not involved, and never take accountability for their own actions. They never fail to embarrass and belittle their employees in front of others and step all over you for their own image and selfish gain. They make it seem like they are taking meaningful action but all they do is instill fear in the employees they have left. They violated anonymity for their so-called "anonymous tip line" to report compliance issues which makes it difficult to bring up any concerns to anyone (and if you do, you WILL get fired). They preach integrity and professionalism yet only hold some individuals to that standard and not themselves. This company is also full of nepotism and many in upper management are related in some way or another so it is impossible to address concerns. Some employees that got to keep their jobs also have relation to those in position of power which makes the bias even more apparent. HR is a nightmare- the one that is usually on site in particular is unapproachable, condescending, and extremely aggressive, making it difficult to ever ask any questions or bring anything up to them. They also don't provide any kind of differential pay for 2nd and 3rd shifts as an fyi. Everyone is NEW! The turnover rate for employees is extremely high and no one in lab operations has been there longer than maybe 4 or 5 months now (with a couple exceptions) given that they laid off some of the most experienced and knowledgeable people and kept some of the newest ones but this says A LOT about the company. JOBS ARE NOT SECURE. REGARDLESS OF WHAT THEY SAY! Everyone is expendable, unless you're related to the right people then that's when you don't have to worry. There never make it seem like you are needed or wanted there, they actually put more effort into making it known that you're NOT wanted but then try to disguise it in a sneaky way that most won't pick up on (like offering unlimited unpaid days off). There is also no room for growth, its hard to go into other departments or to move up in your position because they'll fire you when you think you're close to a promotion. They claim lab personnel are lazy and don't do anything yet they seem to be the only ones actually doing their jobs since there has been no interruption to sample processing given all the changes happening from the move to staffing fluctuations. Lab ops is constantly being micromanaged and watched because people in other positions have nothing better to do, not even their own jobs, and they see even the slightest bit of down time as being lazy or incompetent rather than even trying to understand what's going on. Please do not be fooled by this company. It is full of fake, selfish people in positions of power that will literally do anything to save their own image. They are also a sinking ship with very low volume and business need (just did a huge round of layoffs) so I do not recommend getting anywhere near them; for anyone looking for work or for a new lab to contract- just don't do it.
