It may be a fast-growing company but there is a reason why the majority of recent employees have left after 1-2 years. It is very hard to progress further and gain experience with instruments even after persistently asking in every 1-1 meeting.
You'll be very lucky if you are not pigeonholed into one department for the entirety of your time there with minimal responsibilities (even though they promise they don't do this in your interview).
When internal positions become available, unless you "fit" their "criteria" you won't even be considered.
Hardworking individuals are not recognised unless you're a brown-noser.
Training is shoddy. If you are hired when they are busy, you'll be dumped and expected to pick up everything yourself. You have to consistently ask for more training on the basic things that should be given your first week there, if you are not in the instrument team don't expect any hands-on training on any instrument.
Undermining and unsupportive management. Instead of helping and aiding their team, they would let other managers and employees berate them just to avoid ruffling some feathers. Just shows there is no integrity. Scapegoating employees and bringing them in for a "meeting" which in turn is just a scolding match where you are belittled and not even asked your side of the story. Management treating staff like they were back in school when team meetings took place, just highlighting negative feedback.
Lazy and incompetent team leaders who stand idly by while the rest of the team is overworked.
Company bites off more than they can chew by wanting to impress clients and take on too much work. But this just leaves lab staff overworked and stretched just to meet your crazy unattainable deadlines. Therefore, when things go awry the lab analysts are blamed. On the other hand, there will be periods where there is nothing to do.
No communication between labs. You are given a task and instead of fully discussing what can and can't be done, how much of something is available and doing all the background first you as an analyst are using up your time chasing people from other labs to find out what is needed.
Staff that have been there for many years will lord that over you and use it as a means to justify their actions. More often than not they will be the reason for the toxic nature between the departments and they feel they're better than the rest.
The environment can be very toxic and unwelcoming with departments feeling like they're better than others and spreading of unnecessary gossip just to feel a buzz. Get a life!
Many companies provide the same company benefits as you do if not probably more and pay employees with the same experience and title better wages. Just treat ALL your employees fairly and get rid of the toxic "we're better than you" nature and you might get employees that want to stay and better the company.
