Pros

- Fantastic first job out of college. Consulting projects give exposure to a variety of technology companies and sectors. Associates are given high visibility and responsibility from day one. - Working closely with the Executive Partners (senior consultants) is one of the best parts of the job. They are experienced tech entrepreneurs who have been CEOs, CTOs, CIOs, of various technology companies throughout their career. A new grad joining a bigger firm would likely not get a chance to meet and work with this caliber of executives. - Class of Associates is made up of incredibly smart, driven people. Most of who will certainly be life-long friends. - My experience at Bulger was rich and clearly differentiated from others at my career stage. I learned so much in my 3 years at the firm and those learnings have made my transition into the tech world seamless.

Cons

- Given I was part of one of the first class of Associates, many of the benefits I enjoyed, for example the rotation program between Banking and Consulting, don't exist anymore. - Learning curve is steep but flattens quickly at ~1-2 years on the job as dynamic staffing can get you stuck on the same type of projects (with the same team) for a while. - Culture, and certain personalities, can be overwhelming for more reserved / quieter individuals.

Pros

Several factors contributed to the fantastic experience I had at Bulger Partners. First, the unique structure offers employees - particularly at the younger levels - exposure to a wide range of business situations - finance, strategy, diligence, etc. Moreover, the company is very good about getting all employees, regardless of age and experience, in front of clients at the senior most levels. Finally, the senior leadership at Bulger Partners serve as great coaches, educators, and mentors to their team members. They genuinely care about the development of junior talent and proactively seek to engage with employees about achieving career goals - even if it means eventually leaving Bulger to pursue other opportunities (my managers wrote my business school recommendations). On that note - Bulger Partners does serve as a tremendous platform for pre-MBA professionals as well. Most importantly, they are all good people - I have maintained close contact personally and professionally with several former managers since leaving.

Cons

I worked at Bulger Partners when the firm was still in its relative infancy and, to that end, it sometimes had a startup-type feel to the day to day. This was not a negative, but something applicants may want to consider. However, the firm has experienced explosive growth since then and imagine this is much less of a consideration today.
