There's a reason they are always urgently hiring - Legal Assistant Burg Simpson Employee Review

Pros

There are some people who work in this office and actually care.

Cons

Attorneys are demeaning and inconsistent. Multiple times I was given a task to complete with specific instructions and then when the instructions were followed, the attorney changed their mind and asked for the work to be completely redone. Assistants and paralegals get blamed for delays in case movement, but I was waiting for approval on the same stack of paperwork for three months (which still weren't approved when I left). Emails sent at midnight are expected to be answered even if the last minute rush is the attorney's fault. Just no sense of humanity for the people that their work relies on. There is a reason they have an ad out for the same position every six months.

Pros

Clear demonstration of what kind of work environment to avoid in the future.

Cons

This is a toxic work environment fueled by disengaged and ineffective leadership. Managers will go days without speaking to employees—no check-ins, no guidance, no acknowledgment. The lack of basic communication creates constant uncertainty and stress, leaving employees to navigate their roles without support. HR does not function as an employee resource. Despite the appearance of neutrality, HR exists to protect the company and management, not the people doing the work. Raising concerns leads nowhere and results in no meaningful resolution. Rather than address management failures, the firm relies on demotions. Employees are pressured to accept reduced roles while still performing at a high level and assisting until a replacement is found. This approach feels punitive, exploitative, and designed to push people out rather than fix problems. Morale is low, turnover is high, and employees are treated as easily replaceable.
