Pros

None. Run as far away as you can.

Cons

Byline is facing serious issues with leadership engagement and communication. In my experience, direction was often unclear, feedback loops were broken, and leadership operated at a distance, with little visibility into the daily efforts of their teams. Meetings with leadership were frequently rescheduled, shortened, or canceled. Communication often came in the form of rushed messages that were inconsistent, unclear, and sometimes contradicted previous guidance. When clarification was requested, it was often treated as pushback rather than collaboration. Strategic work and thoughtful contributions were regularly submitted but went unacknowledged. Efforts to promote innovation or process improvement were ignored. In some cases, ideas shared by team members were implemented without recognition or involvement from those who originated them. This made it difficult to build credibility or grow professionally, especially for newer employees. Self-reviews and documentation of cross-functional efforts were often disregarded, with employees discouraged from highlighting their broader impact. The organization showed little interest in giving visibility to high-quality work or new ideas, instead favoring the status quo. The culture penalized those who challenged outdated processes, even constructively. There were no regular skip-level conversations or direct engagement from senior leadership to understand how teams were functioning beneath their immediate reports. Without these touchpoints, decisions were often based on limited perspectives. As a result, many capable and committed employees either left, became disengaged, or were quietly pushed out. These were high-performing individuals who cared deeply about their work, but were not given the opportunity to thrive. The pattern of strong talent being sidelined, ignored, or forced out is deeply concerning and, in my opinion, a sign of broader systemic issues. In my professional experience, this was one of the least progressive and most siloed leadership environments I’ve encountered. While the company has talented individuals, the lack of accountability and openness at the leadership level continues to drive strong contributors out of the organization.
