Pros

Despite all of my many grievances, there are definitely a few amazing humans working here that I've met and become close to along the way.

Cons

I want to provide a thoughtful review of my experiences at C Spire, avoiding any knee-jerk negativity. I've taken the time to reflect on my observations and opinions about the company, and I believe it's essential to share them. In recent years, C Spire has seen a noticeable decline in several aspects. Company Culture: Despite outward appearances, the company doesn't genuinely embrace progressive ideals or diverse perspectives. It often feels like a place where nepotism and a 'good old boys' club' culture prevail. Those who conform to this culture tend to fare well, while others may find themselves cast as outsiders. I've personally witnessed instances of sexism and misogyny, making it feel less like an office of professionals and more like a junior high school locker room. Speaking out against such behavior often leads to gaslighting or being labeled as 'unjustifiably angry.' Regrettably, I've not felt adequately supported by management in addressing these issues and it's against my moral code to ever confront HR, so I've suffered in silence. The company's culture also tends to be very dramatic, gossipy and cliquey, which can only further isolate employees. Work-Life Balance: The organization often operates in a constant state of urgency, where everything is due 'yesterday.' Taking a day off can result in the need for overtime to catch up, particularly in departments closely tied to Marketing. This has created an extremely challenging and stressful environment, and every single person I've ever spoken to in that organization is absolutely miserable. Compensation and Benefits: While the company emphasizes that its pay is competitive 'for Mississippi,' this can be misleading. Numerous colleagues have shared their concerns about below-industry-standard salaries, low annual raises, and prolonged waits for promotions. The company's Christmas bonus is also a complete joke. Waning Benefits: C Spire has gradually reduced its employee benefits. There is now a complete lack of remote work options, even less flexibility when compared to the pre-pandemic era, increased restrictions on on-site badge usage, stricter dress code, increased parking restrictions, and weakened health incentives. All of the above has led to a really low morale.

Pros

Remote work flexibility, opportunities to earn commissions, and valuable sales and customer service experience.

Cons

Low base pay compared to performance expectations, heavy focus on metrics, bonus structure changes, frequent policy changes, and occasional system issues that impact productivity. Low base pay relative to expectations, excessive focus on metrics, frequent write-ups for minor issues, inconsistent coaching, and a workplace culture that can negatively impact morale. Employees may feel micromanaged even when meeting performance goals, creating unnecessary stress and reducing job satisfaction.
