Pros
This isn't everyone's experience but my experience working retail wasn't all that bad. I was new to that type of work and got to experience what it was to be the difference in some one going from just wasting time at the mall to being a purchasing customer. Sometimes people just needed someone to talk to them and I am glad that I could do that for them. You meet many different types of people and get to hear about everyone's backgrounds. That is if they were wanting to talk. It was different from what I've usually worked. I had gotten customers be so appreciative of my help that they would leave and come back with drinks or cinnamon rolls as thanks.
Cons
Although it was a great experience I will say that the store itself is disorganized as a whole. Meaning scheduling. Might be common in that industry but I wouldn't know. Customer service in my area also meant a big language barrier. Most of the time I felt bad for not being able to understand them and taking longer to help them. Other times customers would be a complete nightmare. Seeing grown adults throw a tantrum is definitely exasperating. Again this might be common in customer service in general.
