Poor compensation but generally decent work - Software Engineer II CAPSHER Technology, Inc. Employee Review

Pros

Work is usually fairly well defined and easy to understand and well structured. You can usually expect far less need to deal with client waffling as a low level developer than you would at other consultancies. No overtime is ever required of you. Every week you go home at the end of your 40 hours, no questions asked. If you *do* work overtime, no one ever fights you over getting that overtime pay. Generally, the people are great. Every company has stinkers, but Capsher really does fairly well matching people up with people that work well together, and rarely do you have "that guy" on your team. LGBT friendly, even as far as supporting people through their transition. Company does not publicly allow posts in support, but actual internal culture is inclusive.

Cons

Compensation is poor, about 10-20% less than similar opportunities in the area, about equivalent to university pay, but with worse benefits. This problem *worsens* as you climb the ladder, not improve. One project was a meat grinder that destroyed team moral and response from company and project leadership seemed delayed or non existant unless bypassing the normal chain of command.

Pros

I was mentored from a fresh developer. Lots of opportunities to work on different types of projects and technologies. Fewer promotion opportunities. Saw a lot of people leave rather than being promoted.

Cons

Very siloed work. You do your own work, collaborating with the lead. Would have liked more inter team member involvement day to day. Needs to push for more automatic testing design with clients.
