CDM Smith has been my favorite place to work for the past three jobs I have held. The people here are the most caring, they provide guidance and share knowledge. Everyone is willing to help to get them done. There are many pathways for a young professional, you can enter this company in a role and change whenever the opportunity is right. There are many opportunities for career advancement, CDM has great perks for referrals.
Cons
CDM does not have many holidays (8 total for most U.S workers) and the parental leave is minimal. There is no paid support, just a flexible schedule when you return.

Thank you for the stellar review! We hire for careers, not jobs so we are thrilled to know you feel CDM Smith is a great place for careers.
Flexible hybrid schedule is very nice and starting salary is high for early career engineers.
Cons
The main people running the company are not engineers and you can tell. They are all focused on utilization with rates often set at 97% or higher. This had led to my supervisor asking/telling me to not charge company required trainings. As an early engineer it really feels like they don't want to invest in me and only care about their bottom line.
If you are an early career structural engineer you will also not get any meaningful work until you've been with the company for at least 5 years. The senior engineers do not trust you and will only give you grunt work.
