Pros

The opportunity to serve people

Cons

Almost everything else... When I first read other Glassdoor reviews about CDS Life Transitions prior to my employment, I wrote off the negativity as sour grapes and assumed the author was mistaken.
I WAS WRONG.

Nepotism is rampant, and it is absolutely true that the CEO will look after the careers of his two children over other employees and the good of the company. Human Resources turns a blind eye to the complaints received about his daughter and son. His daughter really does watch a lot of TV at work, I was surprised to learn that was true.

Another review mentioned that the CEO is heartless. This is also true, and it is well known in the nonprofit community that he is a bully. He insults and berates his staff. Breaks contracts on a whim, and is genuinely unpleasant. You really will regret working close with him.
For a company that’s purpose is to serve vulnerable people they certainly don’t live up to that mission. They are embroiled in many lawsuits and have fired people in various protected classes. My advice- lawyer up.

Pros

We make a difference in the lives of the people we support. I work on a great, very supportive team. I am given opportunities to grow and have done so here.

Cons

Staffing can be an issue. This work isn't for everyone.

Pros

Benefits were honestly the only perk

Cons

Where to begin… -Management doesn’t listen to the staff needs. -Upper management only takes care of their own. -Shady business practices and will cover up issues. -Does the bait and switch on new employees. -Flexibility is something they are not. -They made their employees post good reviews to be rated one of the best work places in Rochester. -There is no work life balance. -Demanding hours. -No positive recognition. -HR doesn’t do anything when concerns are voiced but instead will tell you just to find a new job. -Soul crushing -Over all the environment is extremely toxic. -They don’t care about your well being. -Not in favor of remote work and wants people in office. Will watch the clock if you’re not there within a few minutes of set time. -Will threaten your pay when unreasonable demands are made. -No management support.
