Pros
Jobs are scarce, and it is a paycheck, after all.
Cons
The pervasive atmosphere is one of suppression of talent, anxiety over unaccountable policy shifts, and deliberate invisibility and inaccessability of seats of power. Salaries, low to begin with, have been frozen for long periods. Firings have become frequent and without reference to merit. Steady, silent, good sodiers are, at best, rewarded with being ignored, while more colorful employees have their wings clipped and voices muzzled. The perfunctory invitation on the welcome letter to new employees to freely interface with anyone "from the the CEO down" is a mockery in this company, where any such attempt is greeted with icy and impaiient resistance. Emails of substantive comments or suggestions don't even merit a polite brush-off; worse, they are routinely ignored. In short, where successful companies encourage, support, celebrate and reward initiative and interest, at Chemed, you raise your head at your own peril, where it likely will be knocked back down the manhole, with the cover replaced.
