Pros
-Fantastic but challenging work environment. - Lots to do as it is a growing business and since good human resource is not easily available, so get involved in driving the whole value chain...from all aspects of finance, strategy development, planning & implementation, billing, credit control, procurement, through to business partnering/supporting internally IT, Network Services, Sales, Marketing, Business Development etc…and externally working closely with Government, supporting customers and high net worth clients, high end business enterprises etc.....through to driving the whole business forward itself!! - Excellent colleagues and peer group - Being one of the largest and well known private companies in Seychelles, so any value addition one brings to the business impacts the whole country itself - Of course fantastic location, good work/life balance with an opportunity to socialize with very ‘influential’ locals as well as ‘international’ people.
Cons
- Seychelles, although a small country with 115 islands spread across the Indian ocean has ‘small town’ environment, look and feel to it with almost the entire population of 90,000 people living in the main island, also the capital of the country…. A young family has not much too do if one does not like the sea that much! - Although 'local employees' are really friendly, most of them are generally very lazy, with an 'island culture' mentality……..having less focus on work, deadlines and delivery and more on 'having fun' and 'enjoying life'… - Difficult to find and recruit 'well educated, qualified' quality staff.... with the government not keen on giving 'work permits' for hiring talent from abroad… the more ‘educated’ of the locals generally ‘go abroad’ for a better professional life.
