Cactus Communications Response
1yHi, thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with us, and for your kind words about our workflow management team!
We’d like to address some of the concerns you’ve raised. The introduction of pre-processing technology for routine checks like grammar and syntax was driven by the evolving needs of the academic landscape. The goal has always been to assist editors by reducing time spent on basic tasks, allowing them to focus on providing high-value inputs that highlight their expertise and add the essential “human touch.” Our pre-processing technology is purely assistive—not generative—and all changes made by the tool are reviewed by editors during their process to ensure the best quality for clients. We deeply value our freelancers and believe it is the human editor who ultimately adds the most value to every assignment.
We understand there may be assignments where the changes made by our pre-processing technology may not be as helpful. In such cases, we encourage editors to provide feedback through our redressal process, and we ensure fair compensation for any additional effort required. I’m truly sorry for any negative experience this has caused and encourage you to reach out to discuss specific instances further.
We recognize that job volumes can fluctuate during certain times of the year. While we strive to minimize the impact of these fluctuations on our editors, we encourage editors to connect with us so we can explore solutions together. Remote work, while offering flexibility, can sometimes lead to isolation. To address this, we have engagement initiatives designed to foster a sense of community among our editors.
Regarding quality issues in assignments, our reviewers and translators undergo the same rigorous onboarding process and are held to the same high standards as our editors.
However, we acknowledge that there may be instances where their output doesn’t meet expectations. In such cases, we work closely with them to improve their performance while ensuring editors can address concerns through our redressal portals.
On the topic of pay, we deeply regret that your experience hasn’t been ideal. Ensuring fair compensation for our editors is a key priority. We’ve recently introduced changes to better recognize productivity and quality, and we’d love to hear if these have helped address your concerns. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me at sushmitha.s1@cactusglobal.com to discuss this further.
While freelancing offers flexibility, it does come with challenges, such as the absence of traditional benefits or a fixed growth trajectory. That said, we aim to support our editors in honing their skills and have a system in place to reward consistent quality and productivity. While we understand this may not fully meet expectations, there are inherent limitations to freelancing roles.
Thank you again for sharing your feedback. It’s invaluable in helping us improve, and I look forward to discussing this further with you.
Warm Regards,
Sushmitha
