Horrible. Untrustworthy. Pathetic - Student Engagements Specialist Calbright College Employee Review

Pros

Fully remote. Strong classified contract.

Cons

Inexperienced managers/directors that rely on micro-managing employees. They will throw you under the bus at the first chance they get. No student code of conduct, so everything is blamed on the employees. No protection or consideration from managers regarding harassment from students on the engagement Slack platform, so students are free to be trolls. No accountability for bad managers, they’re just interested in saving face. If you’re engaged in the union, they’ll push you out.

Thank you for taking the time to write this review. I am sorry that your experience was not a positive one. I do understand your circumstances, and I hope that you will find happiness in your next position. As you know, we investigate allegations and concerns, and our students and staff's safety is our utmost concern. Even though you may not know the outcome or how a situation was handled does not mean that it wasn't handled. I hope you find a position that utilizes your skills and is a better fit. Although your time at Calbright was not what you hoped for, I hope that you will someday be able to feel that you were treated with dignity and respect.

Pros

Some of the best colleagues I've ever worked with, and the students are incredible. A great mix of people. A good mission. An excellent idea in theory.

Cons

An administration made up of people who have never run a college. A budget crisis for years now, and no planning ahead to be prepared. Laid off 50%+ of the entire staff. Got $50M+ promised from the state (good sign!), based on the current cost to run the school (most of that cost is the staffing, so based on the current staffing) No public conversations about which roles will actually be brought back and when. Is the school planning a reorgnization? Are they *actually* planning to bring back most/all employees (as the president, Ajita Menon, has said)?? No clue. No transparency. No collaboration or honesty. Nothing. If you're looking at jobs here, in the future when they advertise any, really consider what you want from your leadership. If it's communication and consideration, run.
