Pros
Not a lot to say here, unfortunately. These points certainly aren't enough to be able to recommend working at Caleres. -Free soda fountains -Capability to work remote (double-edged sword) -Ability to job shadow for hourly associates in order to make for an easier internal transfer
Cons
Brown Shoe Company was once a great place to work but those days are long gone. The employees are an after thought now, basically just pawns to help line the pockets of the executive team and shareholders. -HR is incompetent and kneels to upper management. Don't expect them to be any sort of help unless you've completely given your life to the company. You can probably expect backlash if you were to approach HR with any issues. -Work life balance is non-existent. HR has came out and said that it's expected that all salaried employees work a minimum of 50 hours a week. You have the ability to work from home, but unfortunately management sees this as an opportunity for you to work around the clock 7-days a week. -The company likes to hire within when it comes to hourly associates. Just be sure that the salaried position you are offered is the one you'll want to stay in until you leave or get fired because they'll make ever attempt to prevent you from transferring. -Layoffs are frequent every year and raises are nearly non-existent. Yet the CEO has been rated as one of the highest paid in the area the past few years. I guess we know where those raises have been going..... -Morale is some of the worst I'v experienced at any company. You will be hard pressed to find someone that is genuinely happy with their job. The company is the definition of a revolving door.
