Pros

Pay was good, benefits were good. Some of the staff were great to work with. The job was amazing, if you enjoy aviation and heavy equipment. Lots to learn, lots to know, always changing.

Cons

Management consists of some of the most incompetent people I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. A very nepotistic culture. Friends hiring friends, more concerned about checking boxes than actual skills or abilities. Managers with ZERO aviation experience in charge of 50 plus operators and safe operation of the airfield. Shifts of up to 12 hours continuously for days or weeks on end. Management was informed of the fatigue issues (outside company did a fatigue study with high tech gear) and did nothing to solve it.. Witnessed a manager openly threaten staff and yell at them for asking a question. HR is only interested in protecting the company or themselves. To no surprise the HR team consists of incompetent staff and has a turnover rate rivaled only by fast-food chains. Some staff had pay issues due to a system error. The errors were never corrected, some staff lost out on pay, HR didn't care. Training is non existent. You learn from others and on your own. No formal training team/dept exists. They claim to have a "non disciplinary" policy with regards to accidents/incidents. That has not been the case for some. If you're not liked (see, have an opinion and won't look the other way on major or minor issues) you are punished for every small incident. In some cases months later. An unliked employee has zero chance of advancement. After leaving for personal reasons I applied for my former position. Their response was that they had "strong candidates" and thanked me for my application. Not sure how anyone on earth could have more relevant experience than nearly 10 years doing the exact job at YYC they were advertising for. A source informed me the selection of candidates was poor. Discrimination plain and simple, see above..
