Working with the individuals we serve is very rewarding. To see the smile on their faces. Makes the drama with the job not as significant at times.
Cons
Management sticks together and gossips. Which makes it a domino affect to their programs. Hostile work environment. Underpaid. Not appreciated. You try to support the staff (to prevent high turnover rates) as a supervisor and you are shut down,. You bring up new ideas to truly serve those that we serve and they are shut down. And don't ask questions, because if you ask too many questions they start to look at you and target you. You get targeted if you speak the truth. They omit information when writing you up, making it extremely biased and unfair. A lot of favoritism. If you are tattling on someone else, they love you. Upper Management will tell you one thing and tell another person in your office something different to turn you against one another (while doing their own little secret investigation), thus creating a hostile environment. You file for harassment which is defined as any form of intimidation... and they tell you to "let it go". It is no wonder their turn over rate is high.
