Pros

Camp Augusta provides many of the benefits that other camps provide - community, work with children, growth opportunities, skill-building and sheer fun. It also provides a lot of personal and career development work that is worth an incredible amount. The organization has latitude to focus on not only training its staff to be great counselors for children, but also to train them in fairly advanced communication, therapeutic, and logistical skills for the benefit of each other. Would recommend working here to further develop skills for anyone in counseling, outdoor education, and especially if they have already worked in, and continue to want to grow in, the camp world. Game design, counseling, and community building are approached here on a higher level.

Cons

Augusta expects an enormous amount from its staff, and seeks out people who have high standards for themselves in order to fit that mold. The environment can be fast-paced, staff often don't have the time or space to center themselves as we do in 'normal' jobs, and while suggestions and improvements are highly valued, it is sometimes difficult to find approval or appreciation, pushing staff to find validation and valuation internally. Philosophies and communication guidelines may not fit certain temperaments.
