Pros
Exceptional Career Growth & Experience: Canada Goose is a fast-paced environment that provides a unique opportunity to scale operations and gain invaluable experience in a short period. As a manager, I was empowered to lead major transformational projects, including optimizing global BPO operations and revamping our tech stack (from 15 systems to 7), which provided a hands-on learning experience that few companies offer. Impactful Mission: At its core, the brand's mission is strong. It was inspiring to be part of a company with a clear vision and to contribute to its growth, especially during its public listing.
Cons
Shift to Maximizing Profit Over People: Over time, there was a significant shift in the company's focus. The initial "people-first" culture that prioritized both employees and customer feedback eroded in favor of maximizing profit. Decisions were often made based on what was easiest and cheapest for leadership, not what was best for our customers or frontline employees. Lack of Transparency: There was a growing lack of transparency and a disconnect between senior leadership and operational managers. This made it difficult to make informed decisions that aligned with the company's true direction and created a frustrating work environment. Misguided "Luxury" Agenda: There was a push to rebrand the company as a luxury brand, but it felt inauthentic. The focus on this new identity meant ignoring foundational operational issues that needed to be addressed first, which created a disconnect between the brand's public image and the reality of its customer experience.
