WORK/LIFE BALANCE IS A HUGE THING! - Account Executive Canyon Design Group Employee Review

Pros

For an entertainment advertising agency, we have a great work/life balance. When there's a lot of work in the shop, we mobilize and rally. Together. The owner is hands-off and trusts her employees to manage clients, run jobs and wrangle presentations. You won't have THAT owner breathing down your neck if you're a producer. We have top-notch Creative Directors who are willing to teach. Art Directors help each other to deliver the best comps/concepts possible and to even improve skills. Competition among creatives is non-existent because so many are talented and confident in their craft. The office is centrally located so there are many routes to work, no matter the direction you come from. There is no "pit" of Art Directors and/or Account Execs; we actually have offices, so there's nobody looking over your shoulder or distracting you from your work or a call.

Cons

The building is a bit dated, but the office (almost an entire floor) is more than fine--and very clean. Parking is tandem with a co-worker, so you may be asked to move your car on occasion. No big complaints.

Pros

This workplace offers 100% remote and have daily virtual meetings. If you enjoy working from home, you are in the right place. People are friendly and the company has a nice culture overall.

Cons

Work can sometimes be a bit intense, but given the personality/nature of entertainment field, it's understandable.

Pros

One of the standout aspects of the company was its remote work structure, which offered flexibility and trust, allowing me to manage billing, accounts receivable and financial reporting with autonomy and efficiency. The team was small but mighty. I appreciated how approachable and supportive everyone was from all departments.

Cons

Because the company operated fully remotely, it could sometimes be difficult to align schedules or catch team members in real time. Unlike an in office environment, spontaneous collaboration or quick check ins require more planning and flexibility. With a lean team, workloads could occasionally become intense, especially for roles outside of project finance. Some colleagues had to juggle multiple responsibilities which sometimes led to longer hours or stretched bandwidth. The high volume of task flowing through a small group occasionally caused slight delays in communication. While everyone was responsive and committed, the sheer pace of work meant that follow ups sometimes took longer than ideal. Also there is not an official HR role which can cause a delay in receiving and processing of employee request.
