Pros
The people who work on the same 'level' / different departments are lovely, you get the opportunity to meet a whole cohort of great people who are, like you, looking to have a fantastic winter and learn new skills. The uniform is provided. Free season pass and lessons, and RealNZ ambassador experiences. Great social experience outside of work, made many lifetime friends.
Cons
I had a total of 4 (four) ride breaks the whole season. The management doesn't know right from wrong and will cover up their shortcomings under the guise of being the authoritative figure who supposedly knows best. Any complaints will not be seriously dealt with in this department (F&B). It felt like a rat race wherein only those who were 'in' with senior staff / management would gain the benefits from being in their favour, inc. additional ride breaks, requested days off, promotions. Issues would not be addressed with you directly but instead would be told to others and reported back to you. The most unbelievable lack of communication that would lead to mistakes often and, even having brought it up as an issue, not improved on at all. Naming & shaming, even when misguided, would occur frequently. No team ethic to be heard of, therefore. Often would not be given assigned breaks or breaks would occur at 3:45pm, having started at 7am (8 hours later). Workplace dynamic affects out-of-work social dynamic heavily as most events are Cardrona/TC staff parties or gatherings. Was told that a negative outlook was just the style with which my manager operated and that they could only see mistakes, not instances worthy of praise. Advised them to adopt a positive reinforcement attitude, was not implemented. Generally not at all a positive experience within the job itself. The 'values' that they hold in such revere at the beginning of the season were whispers in a hurricane. never to be seen or heard of again.
